Schering will take a stake MorphoSys and fund research

As part of a strategic partnership between the two companies, Schering AG has reached a deal to acquire a minority share of MorphoSys AG. Schering will acquire 10% of MorphoSys. Both firms will also conduct joint development of diagnostic tests and antibody drugs.

BASF will buy Degussa division in bid to diversify

BASF AG of Germany is to purchase Degussa AG's chemical-construction business for 2.2 billion Euros ($2.62 billion).
