Olivetti plans to spin-off mobile-phone operations
Article Abstract:
Olivetti SpA is planning to split off its mobile telephone business from Telecom Italia SpA. The move is part of Olivetti's major restructuring of its telecommunications operations. The splitting off of the mobile phone business will make it easier for Olivetti to service its acquisition debts of 15 billion euros. The program switch terminates the company's previous plan to merge Telecom Italia into Tecnost SA, Olivetti's acquisition unit.
