Delivering a design: construction traffic
Article Abstract:
Redevelopment of an historic site in London might have been impossible without proper planning of access for construction traffic. An office building in Soho, London, England, was to be demolished and replaced with new offices. It was decided to carry out a traffic study and to suggest ways in which traffic could be re-routed in the area before building work started. This helped to reduce costs and meant that restrictions on the movement of materials to the site could be taken into account. There was also less disturbance to the local community.

Article Abstract:
An office building at Callendar Park, Falkirk, Scotland was built with internal fittings and external works being done simultaneously. Architect, Jestico and Whiles specified prefabricated partitions which could be errected as soon as the shell was weatherproof. The 4180 sq meter building has a steel frame and concrete plank floor. A weatherproof lining of Steel Framing Systems panels was used to enable internal work to start promptly. Core services are housed in metal stud, Pyrok clad partitions while the offices use demountable partitioning.
