Democracy, one day
Article Abstract:
The British electorate was widened by the 1832 reform bill, and there were further changes in 1867, 1884, and 1918. The 1832 bill prevented women from being able to vote, and in that sense the francise was narrowed, while only a 20% of English and Welsh men could vote after the bill. The ballot was not secret, so voters could be subject to pressure. There was better representation for urban areas. Women were not allowed to vote on the same terms as men until 1928.
