Denmark: 27% of businesses to outsource IT services

27% of major Danish businesses are planning to outsource IT services. The trend is significant especially in the transport/distribution/infrastructure sector, in which 58% are planning to outsource part of their IT services. Among public businesses, 36% are planning to do it, but in the financial sector not more than 14%. Operations and maintenance of central systems and infrastructure, as well as system development, are the biggest areas for outsourcing, Claus Thorsgaard Larsen, general manager of Ementor Denmark, says.

Denmark:Terror attack costs Danish IT industry DKr2.5bn

The US terror attack will cause the Danish IT industry a loss of DKr2.5bn (US$301mn), according to IT analysis company IDC. Its revises its forecast for the growth in the Danish IT business from 8% to 7% this year and from 11% to 8% next year. This means that the earnings of Danish IT companies next year will be revised from DKr60.8bn to DKr58.6bn.

DENMARK: HP DENMARK'S 1998/99 RESULTS

HP Denmark, the Danish subsidiary of Hewlett-Packard, reports a record high profit, DKr 60mn (USD 8.4mn), for the fiscal 1998/99, up 5% compared with 1997/98. Turnover increased by 11% to DKr 2.3bn. 55% of growth is attributed to sales of solutions to minor and medium-size businesses.
