Denmark: Grundfos launches marketing drive in China
Article Abstract:
Grundfos, the Danish pump producer, will target the Chinese brewing market together with nine other Danish companies under Danish Beverage Forum. The group includes 10 Danish companies that last year entered into a strategic co-operation deal to target the brewing industry. The group sees major growth potential in the Chinese brewing market that is expected to grow from the present 22mn tonnes a year at the same time as the European beer market is falling. What is more, the Chinese brewing sector is in a process of concentrating operations under bigger production units, which entails a growing demand for technology that can render production more effective. A delegation of Chinese brewery managers is to visit those companies that are members of the Danish Beverage Forum in the first half of 2002. The other companies in the Danish Beverage Forum include Danbrew, Danfoss, Holvrieka, Sander Hansen, Scandibrew Alfa Laval, Toftejorg, Union Engineering, York Refrigeration and Aalborg Industries.

Denmark: Danish brewers boost their beer exports
Article Abstract:
Danish beer exports have been gradually rising at the same time as the import of foreign beer brands to Denmark has dropped. Members of the Danish Brewers' Association reported global sales of 4.4bn litres of beer in 2000, up 12%, and 3.9bn of this was exported or brewed under a license abroad. According to Niels Hald, head of the Danish Brewers' Association, Danish brewers have boosted their exports to eastern Europe, Asia and Southern Europe where strong beer is particularly popular. He says new alliances and acquisitions are anticipated for Danish brewers on foreign markets.

Denmark: More dynamic beer market
Article Abstract:
The introduction of canned beer and lowered import fees for beer is expected to increase competition on the market and end the falling trend of Danish beer consumption.Beer bought in Germany has at present a market share of 20% of the Danish beer consumption, and if the production of beer is to be increased in Denmark the cross-border shopping has to be reduced. Carlsberg, Danish beer producer, expects the increased competition to give the consumers a wider variety of choice and increased dynamics on the market.
