Denmark: ForeningsSparbanken to target Denmark again
Article Abstract:
Swedish ForeningsSparbanken aims to escalate its efforts in the Danish market following the breakdown of its merger talks with SEB. The bank aims to use FIH as its platform in Denmark. ForeningsSparbanken acquired FIG in 1999 in co-operation with LD, ATP, Dansk Arbejdsgiverforening, DI and the Dutch investment bank De Nationale. According to ForeningsSparbanken ceo Birgitta Johansson-Hedberg, the bank is planning to boost its ownership in FIG in the next few years. ForeningsSparbanken's flagship in the Danish market, Firstviewbank, was closed down a couple of weeks ago as a result of the SEB-ForeningsSparbanken merger plans.

Denmark: Danish banks to examine "cash-free" banks
Article Abstract:
Danish banks are planning to introduce so-called "cash-free" banks in an effort to bring down robberies. Such efforts in Sweden have brought down the number of bank robberies in Sweden from 165 to 30 per year. Swedish banks are using time-controlled locks and so-called cash out machinery and Danish banks are planning to start using similar equipment. Unibank in Stenlille is the first Danish bank to introduce this equipment.
