Denmark: Identical rates for calls to mobile phones
Article Abstract:
The four biggest mobile telephony operators in Denmark charge identical rates for the calls their clients make to mobile phones i.e. DKr1.75 (US$0.21) per minute. The operators retain the greater part of this sum i.e. DKr.1.50. Torben Rune of the telecoms consultancy company Netplan says "this is a gold mine for mobile operators". Michael Moesgaard Andersen of Andersen Management International says mobile operators earn more money when their clients receive calls than when their clients themselves make calls. Allan Fischer-Madsen of consultancy company Siticom - Fischer & Lorenz says the rates for calls to mobile phones should be lower as it is cheaper to supply mobile telephony services than fixed telephony services. Fischer-Madsen does not suspect that the operators are engaged in illegal co-operation regarding the rates for calls to mobile phones. MD Poul Erik Olsen of Telia Mobile rejects this line of argument by saying that the operators have to take into account their overall costs including the DKr950mn UMTS license fee to the state.

Denmark: Telia Mobile not included in the dawn raid
Article Abstract:
The Danish competition authority was not able include Telia Mobile in the dawn raid it carried out yesterday among the leading mobile telephony operators in Denmark. The reason for this is that the Danish mobile company Telia Mobile is not a subsidiary of Telia A/S but is subordinate directly to the Swedish Telia group. Finn Lauritzen, head of the Danish competition authority, says, however, that there is no need to examine Telia Mobile as it has outsourced part of the sales operations to another Telia company that was covered by the dawn raid.

Denmark:Authority to examine mobile telephony operators
Article Abstract:
The Danish Consumer Council levels criticism of Danish mobile telephony operators' marketing methods. According to consultant Anders Hjorth Jensen, operators often violate competition laws and mentions Club Blah Blah, Telmore and Sonofon as examples. Club Blah Blah for example gives misleading information about their rates claiming that it has the lowest rates in Denmark at DKr1.10/minute. The company, however, fails to inform that the consumer will have to pay at least DKr199 on their account in order to be able to make use of the cheap rates.
