Denmark: Ikea to invest DKr100mn in expansion

Ikea, the biggest furniture retail chain in the world, is to expand in Denmark. The chain is to invest a total of DKr100mn (US$12mn) in its three existing stores in Denmark. It will also put pressure on its rivals by cutting prices by 2.5%. Ikea Danmark's sales in the fiscal 2000/2001 will rise by 9% whereas earnings will drop by DKr10mn. Ikea has also invested in a new call center in order to boost mail order sales. Five per cent of Ikea's total sales of DKr1.1bn are generated by mail order and, to a lesser degree, Internet sales.

Denmark: Falck adds to bus fleet
Article Abstract:
Danish security and rescue service company Falck has acquired 150 additional buses from Arriva's handicap transport division. Through the purchase, Falck will have 250 buses serving the Copenhagen area. The buses were purchased for DKr20mn (US$2.3mn).
