Denmark: Unit Link - an unknown concept
Article Abstract:
Few Danish consumers are aware of the retirement savings option Unit Link. According to research firm Greens Anlaysinstitut, only four out of 100 Danes are familiar with the concept. However, when informed about the concept, some 35 percent of the respondents said they would invest some or all of their retirement savings in the fund. Holger Dock of AP Pension says the poor awareness stems from misdirected marketing. The marketing and information of the Unit Link has only been focused on insurance brokers and advisors instead of the consumers, Dock said. Unit Link is a retirement saving in which funds are invested in securities only. Unlike traditional retirement funds, Unit Link offers no guaranteed return on investment

Denmark: Unit-linked funds to be examined
Article Abstract:
Willis, a Danish insurance broker, has made Kirsten Finansradgivning conduct a survey on the market for unit-linked assurance. The goal is to determine which funds have the best yields, in order to improve customer guidance. Kim Sejer, assistant manager in Willis, says that the survey also calculates additional costs for taking out unit-linked assurance. Unit-linked assurance generally has higher costs that traditional assurance. Willis wishes to make sure that there are no hidden agendas for choosing funds. It is important that customers can choose good funds instead of bad ones. Skandia, PFA and Tryg had the best return on stocks in the period 1996-2000.
