Denmark: Telecoms retailers set to lose millions
Article Abstract:
Strand Consult, the Danish telecoms analysis company, predicts in its latest report about the future mobile telephony market that Danish telecom retailers and radio and tv retailer chains will lose turnover worth more than DKr1bn (US$120mn) as they are poor at selling the new computer services provided by mobile telephony companies. "The more complicated the products get the more difficult it will be for retailers to sell them", says John Strand of Strand Consult. Accordingly, mobile operators are expected to set up more stores of their own and use both the Internet, direct marketing and own sales personnel instead of external retailers. John Strand says mobile operators have not been able to stimulate retailers to sell new services. According to Strand Consult, 1.7mn phones will be sold this year in Denmark at the value of DKr2.4bn. External retailers today account for 70-75% of the combined sales of mobile sales. The market for mobile phones in Denmark is almost saturated and 88% of all mobile phones to be sold next year will be sold to clients who already have a mobile phone.

Denmark: Consumers positive to payments with mobiles
Article Abstract:
Danish mobile telephony clients are willing to use their mobiles to pay for large sums, according to a survey conducted by consultancy company 2BM among 131 mobile clients in Copenhagen. Thus the survey is not representative for the whole of Denmark. The interviewees consider the mobile phone as an equally interesting means of payment as the Dankort payment card provided that the safety is at the same level. About a third of the interviewees said they would use their phones to pay for grocery purchases worth around DKr250 (US$30) and clothes worth DKr500 and more than 40% were prepared to pay for a season ticket worth DKr180.
