Dentsu dives for Euro pearl
Article Abstract:
Japanese titan Dentsu, which has a sizeable presence in Asia and the US via its partnership with Young & Rubicam, could arrive at another alliance with CIA which it is under talks with. Both firms are obviously conducting negotiations although Chris Ingram, who is CEO to European media specialist CIA said he is not eager to merge with bigger groups. Also, CIA is raring for a global expansion following the strong financial results it posted earlier in 1998. The entity that will result from the potential merger of Dentsu and CIA is expected to be a force to be reckoned with.

Dentsu and Tempus form global venture?
Article Abstract:
Japanese giant Dentsu and the newly-branded parent of European media specialist CIA Medianetwork Tempus, are rumored to be under talks of a joint venture. Such an agreement will furnish Dentsu with a substantial presence on the European media scene and CIA with access to a strong Asian network. However, any transaction between both firms will possibly be muddled by the 17-year partnership between Dentsu and Young & Rubicam. The partnership currently lists 40 wholly-owned and affiliate offices across 26 Asian Pacific cities.

Giant merger edges closer
Article Abstract:
Leo Burnett Chairman Jeff Fergus has hinted that the merger of Leo Burnett with MacManus Group, parent company of DMB&B and MediaVest, may soon be finalized. The merger will create a worldwide media brand with clients that would include Kellogg's, McDonald's and Procter & Gamble and would compete with WPP group's MindShare. Fergus likewise reported that Motive, the media unit of Bartle Bogle Hegarty of London, UK, will continue to remain an independent brand despite Burnett's 49% stake in Motive.
