Dentsu eyes Leo Burnett stake

Japanese advertising firm Dentsu Inc, the fourth biggest agency in the world has announced its intentions of acquiring a small stake at Leo Burnett Company Inc based in Chicago, IL. The move would allow both companies to embark on joint ventures in the US and other countries to serve Japanese clients. A Dentsu official said the plan is beneficial to both companies since they do not have conflicting client bases. Furthermore, the move would expand Dentsu's exposure in the western and European markets, while providing extra capital for Leo Burnett.

Bandai shares could draw power from Mattel alliance

Bandai's future prospects look bright as an alliance with Mattel was announced by the maker of Power Rangers action toys, which is also Japan's largest toy manufacturer. Since the announcement, Bandai's shares have risen with hopes for an even higher jump once the deal is consummated. Some analysts have since changed Bandai's rating from hold to buy. Mattel is the biggest toy manufacturer in the US and the maker of Barbie dolls.
