Deutsche Boerse reserves right to bid for LSE

Deutsche Borse AG has asked the United Kingdom Office of Fair Trading and German regulators to investigate its merger bid for the London Stock Exchange PLC. The stock exchange has formerly withdrawn its bid of $2.5 billion, yet says it holds the right to offer again if another operator does so. The London Stock Exchange has indicated it is willing to talk to Euronext N.V.

Chief Executive Officer Werner Seifert of Deutsche Borse AG has steered clear of efforts by hedge funds to stop the proposed acquisition of the London Stock Exchange. The London's Children's Investment Fund Management (U.K.) L.L.P. and Atticus Capital of the United States have been the major movers.
