Deutsche Telekom barred from price-cutting move

A German court has forbidden Deutsche Telekom AG to release a new Internet access service. The ruling comes as a result of competitor's claims that the company was engaging in unfair pricing. The primary opponent of Deutsche Telekom's new low-priced service is AOL Europe, a joint venture of Bertelsmann AG and America Online Inc.

Dutch watchdog tells telecom firm to share network

KPN N.V. of the Netherlands has been asked to share its network with competitiors. A watchdog group, OPTA, prompted the move following a request from a rival telecommunications provider. An infrastructure shortage has affected the market following the government's decision to end KPN's monopoly two years ago.

Deutsche Telekom sees network fees for rivals reduced
Article Abstract:
The German telecom regulatory agency has reorganized and decreased the charges that competitors must pay Deutsche Telekom AG to tie into the phone company's network. The agency estimates that the phone company's rivals will save 13% in 2001 and 13% in 2002 on so-called interconnection charges.
