Deutsche Telekom wins bid to buy 35% of HT

Deutsche Telekom AG has won the bidding to acquire a minority share of Hrvatske Telekomunikacje DD (HT), a telecommunications firm based in Croatia. Deutsche Telekom will acquire 35% of HT for $850 million (791.6 million euros). The deal is the largest privatization in Croatia's history. Deutsche outbid Telia AB and Telenor AS's joint offer of $641 million.

Telecom Italia Still Mulling German Offer

Telecom Italia SpA expects its board to approve a merger with Deutsche Telekom AG on April 20, 1999. The German government has a 72% share of Deutsche Telekom.
