Dickson mulls Barney's bid

Dickson Concepts Ltd., a fashion retailer headquartered in Hong Kong, is poised to make another bid to acquire Barney's Inc., a luxury retailer under bankruptcy protection, according to Dickson chairman Dickson Poon. Dickson has proposed to acquire Barney's in a deal valued at $322 million that included $205 million in cash, $42 million in stock and a 49% interest in the merged firm. The company is currently in an expansion move with a $30-million investment in proposed retail facilities in Hong Kong and in Europe, said Poon.

Futures exchange to expand range of investment products
Article Abstract:
The Hong Kong Futures Exchange, in a bid to become one of the major players in the derivative markets, intends to introduce more interest-rate futures and options, regional stock index products and debt-related products to its list of offerings. The new product offerings will follow the unification of the futures exchange with the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong into the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Ltd, a development that is set for completion in Jan 2000.
