Polish entrepreneurs Piotr and Pawel Wos have created a successful grocery store chain in Poland that appeals to upscale shoppers. The stores are competing successfully with such foreign heavyweights as Britain's Tesco PLC and France's Carrefour S.A.

Elektrim gets loan to redeem convertible bonds

Bank Pekao S.A. has granted Elektrim S.A. a short-term loan that will enable the latter to pay off its convertible bonds. Elektrim's convertible bonds, valued at 488 million euros, will mature by December 15, 2001.
