Department of debunkery: economic policy advice
Article Abstract:
The CEA has become less important over time because of its' members bad predictions in the past and because of Pres Clinton's creation of the National Economic Council, which politically supercedes CEA. But CEA can still be a good critic of economic policy due to its academic members.

Economists have shown that there is a 'deadweight loss' or waste of resources in giving presents, but there are other factors which mean gift-giving is still worthwhile. Sentimental value still counts for much.
