Full-year 2007 net profit for German utility E.On AG rose 29% to 7.2 bil euro, with sales rising 7.2% to 68.73 bil euro, exclusive of electricity and energy taxes. The firm dismissed speculation that it is planning to make a deal with Spanish utility Iberdrola.

Iberdrola Renovables slips in trading debut

Shares of Iberdrola S.A.'s renewable energy unit, Iberdrola Renovables, dropped during their debut as the second-biggest initial public offering worldwide in 2007. They closed down 2.8% at $7.57, putting the company's value at approximately $32 bil.

Second-quarter net profit for Spanish electric utility Iberdrola S.A. rose 55% to reach $888.8 mil, due largely to its acquisition of Scottish Power earlier in 2007, but also to a lower-than-anticipated tax rate. Sales rose 59%.
