ESCOTEL LOSES OUT TO KOSHIKA IN PRICE WAR
Article Abstract:
Escotel Mobile Communications Ltd (EMCL) has submitted a case document before the Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Commission against its competitor, Koshika Telecom. EMCL claims it is on the verge of being thrown out of the UP (West) Cellular circle by Koshika Telecom as Koshika Telecom is offering low rate of air time to its customers. EMCL is being compelled to charge a very low air time tariff at the rate of Rs5.50 per minute for four hours and Rs3 per minute for remaining 20 hours without charging any membership fee. EMCL claims Koshika Telecom knows that EMCL is paying its license fee therefore it cannot enter into a price by with effect from September 22, 1998 and is charging Rs2.70 per minute for 13.5 hours and Rs0.90 per minute for the remaining 10.5 hours.
