EUROPE: MARKET FOR DIGITAL CAMERAS BOOMING
Article Abstract:
According to Frost & Sullivan, the European market for digital cameras is to grow fourfold within the next few years. After US$ 239.6mn in 1997, the market volume is to increase to US$ 358.8mn in 1998 and further to US$ 928.8mn by 2004. A breakthrough for digital cameras is expected also among hobby photographers as the quality improves and prices come down. Best opportunities are seen for high-resolution cameras, especially for the "megapixel" technology. Although the segment of digital photography is booming, the interest in traditional cameras and photography in general is decreasing throughout Europe, according to F&S.
