EXXON PULLS OUT OF HPCL REFINERY JV
Article Abstract:
Exxon Corp has decided not to become a partner in the proposed refinery at Bhatinda, which was to have been set up jointly with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL). Exxon feels that the Bhatinda refinery is unviable in view of the Jamnagar refinery and the central India pipeline project. Reliance Petroleum Ltd is setting up a refinery at Jamnagar in Gujarat while Essar Oil Ltd is setting up a refinery at Vadinar near Jamnagar. Petronet India Ltd plans to set up a 2290 km cross-country pipeline to transport products from the refineries of Reliance, Essar and Indian Oil Corporation. Exxon fells that there will not be a market for another refinery in the region. (khr)

PEPCO PLANS Rs2,200-CR REFINERY
Article Abstract:
Pepco Refinery Ltd of Tamil Nadu plans to establish an oil refinery in Andhra Pradesh. The Rs2,200 crore refinery will be set up in collaboration with Petro Dyne Inc of USA. The proposed refinery will have a capacity of 4.8 million tonnes per annum. It will produce liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), naphtha, kerosene and heavy fuel oil. Pepco Refinery Ltd has acquired a refinery in Italy. It proposes to dismantle and relocate it at Hyderabad. (ag)
