Education minister admits to rethink on PFI for schools
Article Abstract:
The UK government is readying the Private Finance Initative (PFI) in school construction, but the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) acknowledged that under 60% of the schools in its 2005 construction effort will be set up utilizing PFI. The UK Treasury has allotted UKPd5.7 bil to the DfES for school construction in 2005. Educational minister David Miliband believes that the PFI could solely be utilized for school construction, with not much refurbishment work.
