Election boosts privatisation plans in Australia
Article Abstract:
The re-election of Australia's coalition government in Nov 1998 has had a positive impact on the country's privatization programme. Significant interest is being expressed in the National Transmission Agency, which owns Australia's network broadcasting towers, and the sale of state shipping line ANL has almost been finalized. It is anticipated that the Australian Defence Industries and Australian Submarine Corp will be sold in 1999. It is possible that a change of policy regarding privatization will take place in New South Wales, Australia, where the state election will take place in Mar 1999.
