Emma Bonino, Europe's commissioner for the future
Article Abstract:
European Commissioner, Emma Bonino, is responsible for a number of 'soft' issues such as consumer affairs and the environment which are seen as likely to dominate European policies for the twenty years or so from 1998. The European Union (EU) needs more popular support, and these policies are popular since voters identify with them. She has been active in promoting fish conservation and has been applauded for tackling the issue with enthusiasm and winning support in fishing towns.
