En la banca se trabaja mas de la cuenta
Article Abstract:
According to a report carried out by the Spanish trade union Union General de Trabajadores (UGT), 40% of the staff in the Spanish banks works more than the 1,728 hours per year signed in the agreement between unions and banking associations. Young employees (under 35 years old) and those working in small towns are seen to be the most affected. The achievement of excessive targets, bad planning of work, personal interests, and mainly pressure from superiors are the principal causes of overtime. Nearly 73.5% of the employees in Banco de Santander have to work overtime (of those 40% an average of three hours). In Banco Popular 51% of those 48.17% employees working overtime stay in the office an average of three more hours. Banks such as Banco Central Hispano (BCH) and Banco Bilbao Vizcaya (BBV) respect working hours more so (two hours is their average overtime).
