Energy from the land
Article Abstract:
There is considerable potential for obtaining energy from certain agricultural crops with relatively little expense or effort. It is important that developments in this area involve planners, architects and landscape architects, particularly ensuring that buildings and groups of buildings are designed in a way which takes into account the main aspects of converting crops into energy. Issues which the architect must consider include integrating the local heating network in integrated service trenches, creating a mix of uses on the site in order to balance out heat demand and using landscape for wind protection of buildings, thus reducing heat loss.
