Henry...who?: Tung will need to ignore old friends and business interests
Article Abstract:
Hong Kong's chief executive Tung Chee-hwa has pledged to make the government more transparent, but there is interest amongst business circles about how he will handle possible conflicts of interests. In particular, his dealings with Henry Fok and Li Kashing, tycoons, and his own interests in Orient Overseas, the shipping conglomerate of which he was chairman. He is unlikely to have much direct influence over Fok's personal fortunes, and most of Orient Overseas business was offshore, with Tung having limited involvement in the colony's business.
