Head for the jungle
Article Abstract:
Travelers interested in learning more about the indigenous people of Borneo can now venture into the interior and visit an Iban village. Former headhunters, the Iban have opened their longhouses to eco-tourism. Visitors who don't mind limited access to electric lights and running water and who are willing to respect the rules of etiquette common to Asian cultures will be rewarded by a chance to sample the cuisine, learn how to use a blow-dart gun, and join the villagers in an impromptu variety show.

A name that's still magic
Article Abstract:
Those who want to know a Bali beyond the resort area beaches should venture into the interior. Travel on the narrow, potholed roads can be challenging and few Balinese may speak English away from the tourist areas, but the adventurous will be rewarded by breathtaking views of rice paddies, mountains, volcanos, lakes, beache, pagodas, and temples. They will also have an opportunity to experience the artistry of Bali in batik prints, gamelan music, paintings, and wooden sculptures.
