'Ethnic minorities and the planning system': a study revisited
Article Abstract:
The 1993 report from the UK's Royal Town Planning Institute, 'Ethnic Minorities and the Planning System', did not explore in depth the meaning of race or ethnicity. Town planning policy makers should understand the dynamism of these concepts in order to be more aware of the impact of planning activities, and of influences in their work. The understanding of race is constantly redefined in social interactions, including planning activities. Other dynamic elements include the shifting boundaries of ethnic groups, and the influence of age and gender in an individual's experience of ethnicity.
