Opportunities in Korea not to be overlooked
Article Abstract:
Most of the carriers that cancelled their operations to Korea during the Asian crisis are perceived to be considering to recommence operations. The airline industry in the country is poised to recover as indicated by the construction of a new airport that is double the size of the Chek Lap Kok airport in Hong Kong and is slated to open on Dec 31, 2000. In addition, Korea is set to implement a complete navaids modernization program that will call for the acquisition of new LLWAS, VOR, ILS and ALS systems.

Hong Kong potential
Article Abstract:
Cathy Pacific is investing $1 billion to transform its home base in Hong Kong's Chek Lap Kok airport into a major Asian hub. Chek Lap Kok faces competition from airports in Kuala Lumpur, mainland China and Singapore Changi. Cathay director of corporate development Tony Tyler said they can no longer rely on Hong Kong traffic and instead will endeavor to develop network traffic and make Hong Kong the center of civil aviation in Asia.
