Lufthansa grasps IT opportunities

The North American division of Lufthansa Systems increasing the scope of its services beyond its traditional core business in airline, airport and transportation-related markets. Its managing director, John Meier-Funke, said they will continue to serve the needs of their core markets from baggage reconciliation, cargo handling to customs clearance. However, they will start to strongly market their internet/intranet/web hosting, field services, help desk/call center capabilities.

Plasma screen test
Article Abstract:
French advertising agency, JC Descaux, has started using plasma screens for airport advertising after realizing that the material is perfectly suited for the airport environment. With plasma screens, advertisements can be changed on average every 12 minutes for the animation and advertising network can be controlled via satellite or through an ethernet network system. They also provide high definition pictures with a resolution of 1,280 x 768 pixels.
