The Greeneville experience
Article Abstract:
The purchase by Universal Ceramic Materials (UCM) of Tateho America, a producer of fused magnesia, in 1995 was managed by Edge and Ellison, which was behind a number of US cross-border deals in 1995. This deal eventually involved 10 firms of lawyers, and highlights that cross-border purchases can present a number of difficulties. It shows that there is a considerable need for a flexible and pragmatic approach when making such deals.
