European platform wins investors

A consortium of 13 companies has acquired a significant minority stake in Chi-X Europe Ltd., a stock trading platform owned by Japan's Nomura Holdings Inc. The consortium includes Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., Merrill Lynch and Company Inc., and Credit Suisse Group. Chi-X represents a challenge to Europe's large stock exchanges and may drive trading prices down.

Iceland may join the crowd

The Iceland Stock Exchange is considering merging with the OMX AB group of Scandinavian stock exchanges. The stock exchange will decide in October, 2005 wheter or not to be acquired.
