Eurorail and L&C win on subsidy
Article Abstract:
The UK government has shortlisted consortia Eurorail and London & Continental as two of the four bids to construct and operate the Channel Tunnel Rail Link connecting London and Folkestone. Construction costs for the 108 km link are estimated to be some 3 billion pounds sterling, plus a further 3 billion pounds sterling for development costs. It is believed that the two shortlisted bids require the least state subsidy. The new line is set for completion by 2002.
