Expanding market for transportable air-defense radars
Article Abstract:
Lockheed Martin Naval Electronics and Surveillance Systems-Radar predicts a global market for as many as 30 examples of its AN/TPS-117 transportable L-band solid-state air-defense radar 2003. Incorporating a considerable amount of commercial off-the-shelf equipment, the radar is half the weight of the FPS-117 fixed-site variant that is operational at over 100 sites across the globe. The company is already supplying TPS-117s to Brazil and Australia, and will also deliver the sensors to Jordan and South Korea.

Vital in combat
Article Abstract:
Electronic warfare (EW) systems are increasingly integrated in combat aircraft to provide maximum protection within the size, weight and power- generation constraints dictated by those platforms. A platform that is more widely used requires greater number of different EW equipment. The simplest approach to integrate new EW systems for which the platform was not designed is to mount them externally. Scandinavian companies have taken this approach further by integrating EW facilities into the missile pylons.
