Missile market milestones
Article Abstract:
The air-to-air missile business is likely to get more complex with the UK Secretary of State for Defense's selection of the Meteor missile to arm the Eurofighter. The selection, which was announced in May 16, 2000, could also complicate the NATO interoperability. This is because fighter fleets of several European countries are to be armed with the Matra BAe Dynamics- made missile after 2010 if the Meteor program pushes through, while those of the US and its allies will be equipped with Raytheon's AIM-120 AMRAAM, which has many dissimilarities with the Meteor.
