Eyes on the prize
Article Abstract:
Catholic leader, John Hume and Ulster Unionist leader, David Trimble have been awarded the Nobel peace prize for their work toward peace in Northern Ireland. Trimble was elected on a platform that opposed compromise, but he has changed his views, and this was evident in his attitude toward Orange Union marchers in 1998. There are still challenges ahead, such as the disarming of paramilitary organizations, but there is hope that a solution can be achieved.
