Alkyl Amines Chemicals has shown a turnaround from a loss of Rs77 lakh in 1992-93 to a profit of Rs5.27 crore in 1997-98. The company has posted a net profit of Rs5.95 crore on a turnover of Rs45.72 crore in the first half of 1998-99 against a net profit of Rs2.01 crore on a turnover of Rs29.42 crore in the first half of 1997-98. The company increased the capacity of its ethyl amines unit from 8500 tonnes per annum to 13500 tonnes per annum in 1997-98 and exported goods worth Rs18.4 crore. The company has projected an output of 11000 tonnes of amines and exports of Rs26- 27 crore in 1998-99. It has also started another capacity expansion at Kurkumbh which will increase the company's capacity to 25,000 tonnes of ethylamines by 2000-01. (khr)

HINDUSTAN LEVER LIMITED

Hindustan Lever Ltd (HLL) of Mumbai has published its unaudited financial results for the quarter ended September 30, 1998. It completed the merger of Pond's (India) Ltd (PIL) with itself on October 15, 1998. The merger will be effective from January 1, 1998. HLL will give 3 of its equity shares for every 4 shares of PIL. According to the merger scheme, the 2,652,384 shares held by HLL and Indexport Ltd, a subsidiary, have been cancelled. HLL's annualised earning per share was Rs35 (Rs27.59 in the same period of 1997) and Rs28.14 in the whole year 1997. (ag)
