FRANCE: AMBITIONS/PLANS FOR H&M FRANCE
Article Abstract:
H&M France, the clothing retail chain, part of the Swedish group, has been present in France for three years, and doubled the number of outlets last year to 22 in total as at November 2000. Although the group turns over EUR 137.5mn, H&M France would still not be profitable. The company's Managing Director for France says his mission is to accelerate its development in France, and reach a leading position, like it already has in Belgium, and Germany. He considers the French market a major market and said the group intends to open 10-20 new stores annually. The retail chain recently opened three new stores in February 2001, in Marseille, and two in Paris.
