FRANCE: LECLERC AND GMO
Article Abstract:
Leclerc, which is worried about the arrival of genetically modified organisms (GMO) in France has launched a campaign concerning them. It feels that industries and public authorities must assume the responsibility of putting this type of product on the market. It feels also that it is up to industries to guarantee that genetically modified organisms are harmless. Although Leclerc undertakes to not use genetically modified organisms in its own brand, it thinks that at present it is impossible to guarantee that a product contains absolutely now genetically modified organisms, because the present regulations do not take additives into account.
