France: Electronic tag for chilled products
Article Abstract:
The Leclerc hypermarket at Istres in the Bouches-du-Rhone departement will test Logitrad tags developed by two of its employees in its cheese department at the beginning of December 2001. These tags were developed using software which updates price changes for products in real time. On the front of the tag, there is consumer information about the price, product origin, composition, category, and quality, and the back side of the tag is information for the sales staff (cutting tools to use, production period, duration of ripening period, wines to go with the product, etc). These tags are available only on paper and are to be soon offered on plastic and will be made available in the processed meats and fish departments.
