Sinopec sets a record

China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (Sinopec) has raised $1.43 bil through an issue of 2.8 billion Class A shares denominated in local currency and available only to Chinese investors. PetroChina Ltd. and other Chinese firms, which have foreign listings, are seeking permission for domestic stock listings, since domestic capital can be obtained more cheaply than foreign capital.
