Acced Multimedia, the Nimes-based start-up company, introduced the acced.com site on 19 April 1999, which enables people who buy at large retailers to do their shopping on Internet. At present, the site offers 1,000 products presented in photos which an explanatory sheet. Putting the products on line is free of charge and they are updated weekly. The site intends to offer 10,000 products of all brands and to have a separate area for French products. The company plans to offer consumer information, to place announcements, and to set up advertising strips. It also plans to supply data processing equipment to buyers who place a certain quota of orders.

FRANCE: SYSTEM U AND SMALL COMPANIES
Article Abstract:
Systeme U intends to improve its relationship with small and medium-sized companies and cooperatives. It has taken a series of measures, including naming one person as a contact, and setting up regional centres to facilitate contacts with them, and it undertakes to sign permanent contracts with its regional suppliers. According to a survey, small and medium-sized companies represent 22% of the turnover of Systeme U, while in supermarkets and hypermarkets overall they only represent 15%.
