Farmers looks to East in US for expansion
Article Abstract:
Farmers Group Inc. is gearing towards establishing its presence in the eastern US from its dominant position in the West, said Zurich Insurance Chief Executive Officer Rolf Hueppi. The move follows the merger of Zurich Insurance Co. and the financial services units of B.A.T Industries. Farmers, a nonlife insurance company, forms part of British American Financial Services (BAFS), B.A.T's financial wing. Hueppi said Farmers is significant because of its vast distribution network in the US. The consolidation of BAFS with Zurich will form Zurich Financial Services Group.
