Statistics suggest that there will be one airplane crash per week by 2010. Regulators and the aviation industry can make up for this prediction by improving safety standards, including acquiring new safety technologies, improving safety of developing countries' aircraft, and better training the pilots.

The end of aerial apartheid: South Africa's airline industry
Article Abstract:
The number of airlines serving South Africa continues to grow, with Virgin Atlantic Airways joining in as a newcomer. Virgin will have three weekly flights between the profitable London to Johannseburg route. Other airlines are reducing prices and expanding services because of this competition.
