Fear and loathing
Article Abstract:
Publicity given to the usage of waste for animal feed in France has added to the number of food scares in Europe. Feed contamination by dioxins has been a cause for concern in Belgium, while Germany refuses to import British Beef due to concerns about mad cow disease. Food safety has ceased to be a minority concern, and is a worry for ordinary people in Europe. Critics argue that the public does not understand farming, but there are some alarming practices in farming such as the excessive usage of antibiotics, and usage of animal waste for animal feed.
