Fear stalks the small screen: television production

Cash strapped film studios are slashing television production company budgets. Unprofitable shows have been dropped from production, writing staffs and production costs have been cut and distant location shooting eliminated. Television production has always operated at a deficit, so cuts are overdue.

Several radio stations in Taiwan are broadcasting illegally because they have been refused permits. The government has confiscated equipment at several illegal stations and fined them efforts to prevent them from operating. Their subject matter is often controversial.
