Fewer freezers speed production - after Dirk-Dirk's factory refit
Article Abstract:
The refit on the Parlevliet en van der Plas's 21-year-old pelagic trawler Dirk-Dirk by Dutch companies Grenco and Afak Techniek is discussed. The refit comprises of an up-to-date 200 tonne a day processing plant and the first CO2 freezing installation apart from a complete new system made up of a vacuum fish pump, fish separator and vibrating chute for grading the fish and RSW chilled hopper bins. The new system increases in the production speed with fewer freezers.
